When I turn my car on, I want it to say something like…

System Check, Complete. All systems go. Good Morning.

How and what can I do to make this real?

It would be a lot cheaper and easier to get your partner to talk to you when you start him/her up.

    1.Buy a tape recorder
2.Record what ever you want to hear
    3.Push the rewind button
4.Play it when you get in your car

You need to get out more and interact with real people…not stay home on the computer.

Nissan put that option on some of the 1983 280zx.

Mine said about 20 different phrases. she had a nice sexy voice. Lights are on, fuel level is low, door is ajar.

I miss that car. The voice thing never caught on, and to my knowlege no other car has done it. My gps talks to me. get a garmin.

I know something like that was done with chryslers at one time but talking cars where to annoying to keep in production. Anyway unless you want a diognostic on what your car is feeling and you just want a recording of some type get an old laptop with dos on it. Tie the power supply into the ignition, create a program in basic to say what you want it to and get it to load when you boot the car with your ignition. If you realy want to connect with your car and find out how it realy feels get onstar.

Theoretically you could rig a synthesized message to play when your car turns on my simply rigging it through the power systems & the audio system, but that would be a whole lot of work….. id say just imagine lol

First off, go find a cheap voice recorder. You can find them in toy aisles at most department stores. Then find someone who’s voice you won’t mind hearing every time you start your car.

Now it get’s tricky. Use a screwdriver to open up the recorder, and start experimenting with wires. Touch a small gauge wire connected to the battery it came with to different points on the little computer chip. When the thing talks, remember what point you touched the power too and connect that point to the ACC point on your ignition switch. Also run a very thin wire from your car battery to the positive end, but make sure to put a low amp fuse (like 2 amps) inbetween the battery and the recorder so it doesn’t get fried. Then run a wire from the negative end of the recorder’s battery compartment to some piece of metal in your car like a door so it gets a good ground.

Now your car should speak every time you start it.

Or maybe not. I’ve never done it before.
