wow, thats great. I get 24 mpg with my taurus and i am happy its a 2002. if you had a 80 model with 40mpg that is crazy.

there are probly a ton but i know most all hybrid cars but to be safe just google it

There are only 3 cars that get over 40 mpg:
Honda Insight 5-speed manual
Toyota Prius Variable automatic
Honda Civic Hybrid Variable automatic
In addition, one car gets 38 mpg.

Unfortunately the highest milage cars are all old ones. We got consistantly 38 – 40 mpg in a Plymouth Voyager. V6

Go to This is the Federal Governments page about the mileage and greenhouse gas emmissions of all of the cars recently made in the USA. It will have all the information you need and more. And remember that little 1980 car? It was an 1800 pound little death trap that was woefully underpowered, had no safety systems and the speed limit was only 55mph. More important for mileage than Type of drivetrain is the weight of the car and rolling resistance of its tires. My little 98 escort wagon with 2.0 SOHC 4 cyl and 5 speed gets 34.5 city and close to 40 hwy. So, yes you can still buy little efficient cars today but hardly any are sold because nobody really wants them. Most people are perfectly willing to pay an extra 10-20 bucks a week to ride in comfort and security.
