I need to get home from school this weekend for a wake, but my car’s battery has been dead and I haven’t had a chance to replace it. The ride home is usually about 4 hours. If I jumped the car, do you think I could make it home without the battery dying? I don’t know much about cars, and I don’t want to end up in the Bronx with a dead battery =\ Really need to get home though.

i took the car to the shop for just a regular oil change+ rotation, dude walks up, sounding grave (note the place was empty…u know, bad economy), said my belts were bad and needed to be changed.. i got serpentine…(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serpentine_belt) so they did change, right… so i drive off, get on free way and lo and bhold, at >60mps my freaking steering starts vibrating.. i got new tires <4months, and they got balancing already... then after i stopped, car becomes cold, starting off or making bends i got this loud screeching shrill noise from car. any ideas what they did wrong that could have caused it?
more details...the noise i noticed after leaving car parked for over 6hours...it started when i put it in reverse and pulled out...noise went on for like 30seconds...it comes on at turns, but not every turn...i also noticed once when accelerating btwn 24-35mps that the noise came on for about 6seconds. but i'd try what dan said and report back in a second
